This month, Adidas receives our Product Innovation Award for two new sustainable footwear models,

ALPHAEDGE 4D PARLEY SCHUH and TERREX TWO PARLEY.

Adidas is thus consistently pursuing its path of combining attractive design and top product quality with goals of sustainability. Currently Adidas has 1,200 sustainable products on offer (clothing, shoes, accessories). This is impressive and should encourage imitation.

Adidas committed itself to supporting the OCEAN Conference in 2017. By using Parley Ocean Plastic™ that is made from recycled plastic waste, 11 PET bottles can be reused for one pair of shoes. The plastic waste is collected on beaches before it reaches the sea. Parley, for example, delivers this waste from the Indian Ocean to Taiwan.

There, the plastic waste is ‘up-cycled’ and processed into yarn fibres and shoes. Adidas has produced 1 million pairs of shoes with Parley since its commitment.
